Housing Support Service

Who is this service for?

Through the Getting Help in Neighbourhoods Scheme, the service is open to people aged over 18, living in Leicestershire, who are facing housing instability or crisis, and also have additional mental health needs.

What is it?

Our Floating Housing Support Officer will offer assistance to individuals over a period of time, helping them to achieve housing stability and improve other areas of life, like mental health, budgeting or connection to the community.

The service aims to assist clients to confidently and positively maintain their tenancy, improve mental and physical wellbeing, and ultimately prevent future crisis or homelessness.
Our team will work with clients in ways that best suit them - in person, for those who need face-to-face support, or on the phone if that is a preference.

We provide holistic support throughout a client's journey through the service, aiming to overcome barriers and address root causes that lead to homelessness, often assisting with overwhelming things like paperwork.

"Did you know? In feedback last year, 100% of clients said their mental wellbeing improved after our support."

What can we help with?

Our support can offer many different things, including:
- assisting clients to access NHS or GP services
- helping with benefit applications or advising on eligibility
- completing applications for funding for household items (like ovens, etc)
- helping clients access debt management services
- referring to welfare provision (food and fuel) where needed
And so much more...

Why does it matter?

Mental health and homelessness are hugely linked. For some, mental health issues can cause housing instability through the inability to work, or the overwhelm of complicated processes and paperwork. For others, a period of homelessness or housing instability can negatively impact mental health, and therefore make it harder to achieve stability again.

To prevent and break these cycles, the right support is needed. Our Housing Support ensures that people are listened to, understood, and the right advise and assistance is put in place to overcome some of the main barriers a client is facing, to set up a stable and bright future.
