talk²sort Mediation

Who is this service for?

The talk²sort Mediation Service works with young people aged 11-19, and their families, who may be having problems at home or with their relationships. We support people to explore ways of resolving conflict, improve communication, and improve well-being.

Mediation sessions can happen at school, at home, or in the community - sessions are available to both young people, siblings and parents alone, and jointly.

What can we help with?

We support young people and their families to reduce the likelihood that a young person will face homelessness in both the immediate and distant future, by preventing or overcoming the leading cause of youth homelessness: family breakdown.
As one of our longest running services, we know that resolving conflict can have substantial benefits on individuals’ mental health and wellbeing, leading to a more positive future.

Often this involves working through a number of issues, which may include:

How do we help?

Mediation can, at times, be a difficult process. However, it can prove to be successful in improving home life and relationships. Mediation is a future focussed process which looks at how to move issues forward - it is not about focussing on what has happened in the past.

We will help you by listening to how you are feeling, what you feel the issues or problems are and how you would like things to progress. We then support and empower you to decide what realistic and achievable changes you would like to make in order to achieve a positive outcome.

We can support you over a long period of time; as long as there are things you would like to achieve that you need support with through mediation.

For young people with additional emotional well-being issues, mental health barriers or trauma, we also offer Counselling sessions.
