Our Winter Homelessness Campaign is now Live

Our winter campaign named The 1611 Campaign, in memory of the 1611 homeless people who lost their lives in the UK last year, is now live!

Our 1611 Campaign remembers the people who tragically passed away whilst homeless last year, and seeks to ensure we prevent as many homeless deaths as possible over the coming winter months within our community.

We want to raise awareness around homelessness and the challenges homeless people face each day, whilst collecting donations for essential items and donations to fund our efforts to support those in need this winter. Every year homeless people die through hypothermia and cold related illness, we want to do whatever we can to prevent such an unnecessary loss of life, but we need your support.

Christmas is a time for celebration and community, but many will spend this Christmas homeless on the streets or in cold, insecure accommodation. With 4950 excess deaths due to cold homes in 2023, it is vital that we support people in vulnerable situations and save lives across our communities.

We hope you will join us on our mission to save lives this winter. All the details for the 1611 Campaign can be found on the 1611 Campaign Page on our website, and you can download the Campaign Pack itself here. This includes details about our awareness challenges, the list of essential items we are requesting, and ideas for fundraising.

We know better than anyone how difficult things are financially at the moment, and donating to causes like ours may well be impossible in the current circumstances. But support does not have to burn a hole in your wallet. Donating unwanted clothing, fundraising on our behalf, or simply sharing our posts of Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn can have a huge impact! Doing something is always better than nothing!

If you do wish to donate to the 1611 Campaign you can do so here or on JustGiving here. If you are interested in getting involved, whether by fundraising or collecting donations for essential items, and have any queries please reach out to businessdevelopment@thebridge-eastmidlands.org.uk.
