The Bridge Awarded BBC Children in Need Funding

The Bridge East Midlands’ talk²sort service prevents young people from becoming homeless, and has been awarded a three-year grant from BBC Children in Need.

We are delighted to announce that BBC Children in Need have confirmed funding for our talk²sort family mediation service for the next 3 years!

Family relationship breakdown is the leading cause of youth homelessness in the UK, responsible for over half of youth homelessness cases. The long term consequences of experiencing homelessness in childhood are devastating, and the chances of becoming homeless later in life are greatly increased.

talk²sort is one of our oldest services, founded in 2003. For over 20 years it has been preventing youth homelessness by working with young people and their families to resolve conflict, improve communication, and empower young people.

Our work is vital to ensure young people can stay securely housed, but also so they can develop the skills to support themselves moving forward. Preventing homelessness is not just about supporting people in crisis, it is about giving them the skills and confidence to make sure they don’t end up in the same situation again.

So thank you to BBC Children in Need, and thank you to our wonderful talk²sort team for the incredible work you do!
